Hooked on Daddy

Are you looking for a fun & simple Father’s Day gift? Look no further! I got this idea this Spring when I opened up my Camelback & our old fishing licenses were in there looooonnngggg expired from 2016. My hubs said, “Oh, are those our fishing licenses, we need to go fishing!” We then discussed if our 3 and 1 year old would do okay fishing, since we haven’t gone since we’ve added kids to our clan. Anyways, yadda, yadda, yadda it planted the idea in my head!

I checked out the tackle boxes at Wal Mart and was not a fan, they were not very nice. I wanted a mid range quality tackle box because we aren’t avid fishers but I wanted to buy one that we like & it will last us awhile. So off to Cabela’s we went (without Dad of course). Side note, my little boy Dominic remembered the fishes from Cabela’s and asked me to pray for them tonight. He turns 3 in one week and this Mama heart is struggling, isn’t he so sweet. He also asked us to pray for the snake we saw on the trail last night while hiking…. *sobs* such a sweet boy… when he wants to be lol. Moving on! We found a tackle box that was $20 that is my hubs favorite colors so we snatched it up!

Next we renewed my husband & I’s fishing licenses, which costs $34 per person for the year (in Utah, idk what it is in other states).

Finally we bought some candy, some that is fishing themed and some that is not & I tried to do some “dad/fishing” quotes that went along with each candy. Just be creative here! On Pinterest I did see that people had unwrapped their candy and put it in each little slot but I didn’t want my candy to dry out & I wanted to put the quote directly on the packaging so it made sense. In retrospect I kind of wish I would have got some individually wrapped candy like tootsie rolls, or even put some of my starburst in the sections to fill it out more. But it’s totally up to you how you want it to look or even if you want to put quotes on each candy!

My husband loved it and we can’t wait to go fishing! I put all our fishing stuff that we had stored in a Wal Mart bag in our storage into the tackle box after we gifted it to him, and we definitely need to invest in some more stuff but we have a start! We already have fishing poles so we gotta get out and use them!
